Last week I got really quite sunburned at Lobby Day at the Capitol. It's amazing how the April sun can scorch your pasty-Minnesota skin. This week, despite all my best aloe-efforts, my neck is peeling.

One of my students, Shaniqua (I love to play the "Guess my student's race/ethnicity game!" This time I'll tell you, though, she's African-American/Black) saw that my neck was peeling and declared, "Kristen, you're dying! It is totally unnatural for skin to fall off in chunks like that."

Basically, she was calling me a leper.

She then continued to comment on my skintone, "Kristen, you just got the craziest skin colors. *shakes head* I mean, there's pink and red and blue and purple and white and see-through, and now it's all falling off!"

So now I'm a rainbow-leper! Ha! Thanks, Shaniqua.
